About Jeanne M. Huey

Jeanne M. Huey is a Texas trial lawyer and ethics advisor with over 27 years of experience. She defends lawyers in grievances and malpractice cases, advises on ethics compliance, acts as an expert on professional responsibility and ethics issues and helps law firms build policies that prevent problems. Jeanne serves as Co-Chair of the ABA Litigation Section’s Ethics & Professionalism Committee and speaks nationally on emerging ethics issues.

Her work centers on helping lawyers navigate high-stakes professional challenges. Jeanne is often brought in when ethics rules intersect with litigation — whether advising on conflicts, responding to a grievance, resolving a fee dispute, or serving as an expert in attorney conduct matters. She brings both courtroom experience and practical judgment to issues involving withdrawal, sanctions, confidentiality, and co-counsel arrangements.

Jeanne regularly advises on law practice management issues, including engagement agreements, co-counsel fee arrangements, confidentiality, advertising, and staff supervision. Her clients include solo and small firms, larger practices, and lawyers nationwide navigating high-risk decisions or seeking proactive ethics guidance.

Within the ABA, Jeanne has served in multiple leadership roles in the Ethics & Professionalism Committee of the Section of Litigation, including as Co-Chair (2023–2026), Subcommittee Chair for Web & Newsletter (2019–2022), and featured speaker at the Annual Section Conference. She authors frequent articles in the Committee’s newsletter.

Jeanne has been quoted in ABA Litigation News and Law360 on ethics topics including sanctions, confidentiality, and attorney use of AI. She presents CLEs across Texas and nationally on topics like fee agreements, risk management, mediation ethics, AI and professionalism, grievance defense, and billing practices.

Jeanne is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and Dallas Bar Foundation, a member of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL), and past Chair of both the Dallas Bar Association Legal Ethics Committee and the DBA Solo and Small Firm Section.

Based in Dallas, she consults and teaches nationwide.
